Voices of Cork is a four part harmony community choir. It was formed in 2005 as part of Cork’s appointment as the ‘European Capital of Culture’. The choir aims to provide good choral music within the community, focused on people with limited access to such music. We also aim to give members of the community an opportunity to participate and become members of the choir, regardless of prior experience. The choir’s focus is on community involvement and this can be seen in their interactive workshops with members of the community from the very young to the very old. The choir performs in a wide range of venues including Cork City Hall, Glow, Nursing Homes, Hospitals, the Cork Choral Festival and more!
Members of the choir are people of all ages from diverse backgrounds and are drawn from all over Cork and beyond. The choir is run by a committee who are all members of the choir. It is a lively choir and repertoire includes popular songs, ballads, jazz etc. We aim to incorporate a strong social aspect to the choir, including events like a Christmas party, trips to events, and even a cuppa during rehearsals. Rehearsals are conducted every Wednesday night at St Patrick’s National School on Gardiner’s Hill.
