Information for Prospective Members

Welcome to the Voices of Cork! We are delighted you have decided to come along to see if the Voices of Cork is the choir for you. Here is some information on what to expect to help you settle in.

How Things Work at Rehearsal:

At your first rehearsal you will be met by some members of the committee, most likely the treasurer and membership secretary. Payment of the €25 fee should be made in cash to the treasurer and a receipt will be issued for same.

You will be introduced to one of the choir Section Leaders, who will ask whether you think you are a soprano, alto, tenor or bass. She/he will introduce you to members within your section and get you seated. The Musical Director will ultimately allocate you to a section in the choir.

Your Section Leader will also introduce you to the choir librarian who will provide you with the music scores for the songs being worked on at the rehearsal. The music must be returned to the librarian at the end of rehearsal.

Ensure that you have water and a pencil with you. We take a short tea-break midway through the rehearsal. Please bring your own mug/travel cup for this.

Please note that it will be necessary for you to be on WhatsApp as it is how the choir communicates with members. As a prospective member you will be added to the general WhatsApp group.
If at the end of the month you decide to become a member of the choir, you will be asked to complete a Membership Application Form. The €25 you paid already will be offset against your annual membership fee, which will be payable at that point. You will also be added to the VOCC WhatsApp Music group and given links to the Choir Constitution and Rules for Members.

Information on the choir’s committee members is available on the website here.
