This Privacy Policy relates to the website for the Voices of Cork Community Choir (VoCCC): https://voicesofcork.com. The volunteer-led VoCCC Committee is the Data Controller of the personal data collected through the choir’s website and takes your privacy seriously.

This Privacy Policy may be revised from time to time. When this happens, an updated version of the VoCCC Website Privacy Policy will be posted to the relevant page on the website.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Our aim is to keep the personal data that we collect about you to a minimum. We will only collect data which you voluntarily provide to us, including but not limited to the following circumstances:
- Posting a comment on the website (For more information, see the section on Comments)
- Emailing us for any reason, including but not limited to reporting a problem with the website or availing of your data protection rights.
Examples of the personal information that we may collect in the above instances include your name, email address and other contact details if you provide them. We may also retain a record of your correspondence with us. The personal data that you provide is processed by us on the basis of your consent and you can withdraw your consent at any time. We will only store your data for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which it was submitted.
As detailed in the sections on Comments, Media, Cookies and Embedded content from other websites below, we may also automatically collect data when you navigate through the VoCCC website, particularly relating to your computer to ensure that the website functions in the most effective manner for your computer. The information collected may include your computer’s IP address, operating system and browser type. This is a legitimate interests use of your personal information to support the operation and improvement of the VoCCC website, analysing use of the website, and ensuring its security.
Any personal data processed by us in connection with this website will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Acts 1988 to 2018. Accordingly, data will only be processed in line with the purpose for which you provided it and to the extent necessary to provide you with the information or service you requested.
We will not disclose your personal data to third parties unless you have consented to this disclosure or unless the third party is required to fulfil a request you have made. Where appropriate, data may be processed by our service providers (details below) who are obliged to keep your data confidential and secure and only use your data for the purpose for which it was provided.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, the data shown in the comments form is collected. The visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string are also collected to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. If your comment is approved after a mediation process, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images or videos to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on the VoCCC site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Articles on the VoCCC site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Otherwise your personal data will, insofar as possible, on be used only to support your engagement with the VoCCC through its Committee Members which engage with each other predominantly using WhatsApp and Gmail.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
For any other personal data provided, we will only store it for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which it was submitted.
